March 6th: Playing and Learning in the Projects: Changing the lives of low-income children and families through play and comprehensive support

 

Join us on March 6th at noon in room 208 of the Education Building for a talk with Takiema Bunche-Smith, Curriculum Director of the Brooklyn Kindergarten Society [BKS] and BKS pre-school teachers, Alexzia Plummer & Laurel Wyatt.

The presenters will describe the services BKS offers and provide examples of the ways in which their arts-based curriculum engages children and develops successful readers and writers.

Sonnet Man 

Rap artist Devon Glover (aka Sonnet Man) performed Shakespeare’s Sonnets for 3rd to 5th graders at Grant Elementary in Trenton, N.J. Then, he did a second performance in TCNJ’s library auditorium for teacher education students. Glover hopes that his interpretations of Shakespeare make the literature more accessible and interesting for students of all ages.Continue Reading
